Pity I missed them when they were in Stockholm this spring, but it really was a ridiculously expensive (and early-to-sell-out) affair - they should have booked them to a much larger venue.Birdseedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01161105277182690887noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-269413660719495848.post-67596016551495171152009-08-23T15:00:13.242-04:002009-08-23T15:00:13.242-04:00Yes, I like Africa Kine. My daughter & I got a mean Thiebou Yap & Mafe to go when we were there last April. & the service is fast, unlike a lot of African places.John B.http://likembe.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-269413660719495848.post-80201575203534164562009-08-23T11:22:06.623-04:002009-08-23T11:22:06.623-04:00Well im no little senegal expert, I think your bes...Well im no little senegal expert, I think your best shot would be ask somebody from the neighborhood what their favs are. Theres a bunch of shops & its cool to play a lot of stuff & remember to ask for track info which obvi arent on a lot of cds before you leave. I recommend africa kine, their thieboudienne is sooo good - its northern Senegalese style and a lot richer than how they make it at other places in the city. Pick up some attiya on the street if they have fresh mint, & beignets if theyre hot.rachelhttp://theelephantschild.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-269413660719495848.post-92163231146729195582009-08-23T10:45:29.680-04:002009-08-23T10:45:29.680-04:00I've been to Little Senegal a couple of times ...I've been to Little Senegal a couple of times - unfortunately wasn't able to spend more than an hour there each time. I think I know the place you're talking about. There's another music store a little farther east along 116th that has scads of pirated CDs - I'm sure you've been there too. Any other suggestions about music stores, restaurants, etc. the next time I'm in NYC?John B.http://likembe.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.com
